Melrose – A Picturesque Property

Turn right into Hall Road from Rodborough Road and then left at the first property and you have arrived at Melrose, an immaculate property with a beautifully designed home.

The home has been strategically placed to capture natural light and benefit from ever changing views of Lake Cairn Curran and Mount Tarrengower.

The gardens that nestle comfortably, enveloping the house and outdoor living areas, were planted in 2005 and the garden was once included in the Castlemaine Festival of Gardens.

Established over a twelve year period early photographs are testament to the transformation of this landscape.

Hall Road once led to the Hall at Joyce’s Creek, a small town which was submerged after the dam was built on the Loddon River to create Cairn Curran reservoir. Romulus, My Father which tells the story of Romulus, his beautiful wife, Christina, and their struggle in the face of great adversity to bring up their son, Raimond refers to how Romulus worked on the construction of this dam.

  1. Beautiful property! Self sustainability at it’s best. Love the early pictures showing the progression of the property.
